Individuality

I notice on Facebook an ad for cupcakes.   It maybe my age, but I call these 'fairy cakes'.   A trend!
I have also noticed that most people have a certain type of mobile phone.   I'll not mention the make or model, I'm sure you can guess.   Another trend!

My point is - whatever happened to individuality?   Why must people follow blindly?   Why can't people decide what's best for them and them alone.

My mobile isn't the 'in' mobile.   It's the mobile that gives me the longest battery life because I like to be able to have a certain amount of freedom without being tied to a charger.

I don't quite understand the cupcake trend - but it does highlight the money to be made with clever advertising and the knowledge that people will follow a 'trend'.   If I want a wee cake, I'll either buy  cakes or bake them.   (Heaven help the recipients of my baking!)

Now, the person who came up with the idea of cupcakes and the person who came up with the concept of the 'in' mobile phone dared to be individual.   The person who started punk rock was an individual.   The person who started the jive was an individual.   Zandra Rhodes was an individual.   Alexander McQueen was an individual.

All it takes is courage to put your ideas forward and you never know where it will lead.

Give it a try - be individual - don't follow the pack blindly - be yourself.
